Germination is a process by which a seed or spore leaves the dormant state and puts forth roots and shoots.

Graft refers to the joining a stem of one plant with another so that they grow together. Grafting is used both to propagate plant species and to add foliage where none previously existed on a bonsai. Fusion of the cambium layers of both plant is essential for a successful graft.
